The Center for Prevention and Counseling hosts two new WISE sessions, a wellness program for those ages 55 and up from noon until 2:30 p.m. at the Louise Child’s Library in Stanhope beginning on Wed. Jan. 16, and at the YMCA in Hardyston beginning on Thursday Jan. 17. The Wellness Initiative for Senior Education program (WISE) is a 6-week program that celebrates healthy aging and educates older adults on a variety of topics. Workshop topics include alternative approaches to pain management, safe use of medications, how to communicate with the healthcare provider and how to make healthy lifestyle choices. WISE empowers participants to become more aware of how to take control of one's own health and wellness. It also provides participants with an opportunity to socialize and connect with community services. A complimentary lunch will be provided at each session and a gift card incentive is provided to all participants who attend 5 out of the 6 WISE sessions.

In an effort to address Alternative Approaches to Pain Management among older adults, funding is provided through the Department of Health, Division of Mental Health and Addiction Services.

Registration is required. Contact Michelle Bove from The Center for Prevention and Counseling at 973-383-4787 ext.231 or michelle@centerforprevention.org
